By Zoila Palma: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the importance of U.S. support for diplomacy aimed at ending the ongoing war with Russia, Reuters report.
Speaking on Monday, Zelensky reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to intense diplomatic efforts and expressed hope for continued U.S. backing in securing peace.
His comments came after a tense White House meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, where relations soured. Despite this, Zelensky highlighted the importance of working with the U.S. and European partners to find a resolution to the conflict.
“We are working together with America and our European partners and very much hope for U.S. support on the path to peace,” Zelensky wrote. He also stressed the need for real security guarantees in any peace agreement to prevent further Russian aggression.
Ukraine’s parliament supported Zelensky’s diplomatic push, acknowledging Trump’s role in peacekeeping efforts. Zelensky concluded by emphasizing that unity among Ukraine, the U.S., and Europe is essential for achieving lasting peace and stability.
