By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: At least five wildfires are burning across Los Angeles, including two major blazes that have scorched over 27,000 acres, with no containment, BBC reports.

One resident described the scene as “like Armageddon,” while another said, “the whole Palisades is done.”

Fires near iconic locations like the Hollywood Hills and Sunset Boulevard have destroyed homes, including those of celebrities like Paris Hilton and Ricki Lake.

Five deaths have been confirmed, and more than 137,000 people have been evacuated.

Strong Santa Ana winds, gusting over 60mph, are fueling the flames, while drought conditions have left vegetation dry.

Officials are investigating the cause but cite human activity, climate change, and dry conditions as likely contributors.

Firefighters are struggling with limited resources, with some neighborhoods lacking enough engines or water to fight the fires. Meanwhile, 300,000 homes are without power.
