According to Time Magazine, if Trump wins the election, he plans a major overhaul of U.S. immigration policy, building on the aggressive measures from his first term.
Key proposals include mass deportations of millions of undocumented immigrants, workplace raids, and the use of military personnel for immigration enforcement.
Trump aims to execute what he calls the “largest domestic deportation operation in American history,” potentially removing up to 11 million people.
His strategy relies on expedited removals, which would bypass normal legal processes.
Critics warn this could destabilize the economy and violate civil rights.
He also intends to reinforce the border wall and reinstate the “remain in Mexico” policy, which forces asylum seekers to wait in Mexico while their claims are processed.
Additionally, he plans to hire 10,000 new Border Patrol agents and end birthright citizenship for children born in the U.S.
Trump’s immigration agenda reflects a stringent view of immigration as a security threat, raising significant legal, ethical, and humanitarian concerns.
Time Magazine also noted that if Kamala Harris wins as U.S. President, she would push the bipartisan border security bill.
This bill would have added thousands of Border Patrol and other immigration personnel, sped up immigration decisions, and made it harder to claim asylum in the U.S.
