International News: Venezuelans in U.S. react with outrage over Trump’s deportation deal with Maduro

By Zoila Palma: Venezuelans across the U.S. expressed fear and anger on Saturday after President Donald Trump announced that Venezuela would accept the deportation of its nationals, including undocumented immigrants and members of the Tren de Aragua gang.

Trump’s announcement came after a meeting in Caracas between Trump’s special envoy and Maduro, raising concerns that the agreement would send Venezuelans back to a regime many fled.

Over half a million Venezuelans in the U.S. benefit from Temporary Protected Status (TPS), which could be at risk after a recent rollback by the Trump administration, Miami Herald reports.

Advocates like William Diaz of Casa de Venezuela Orlando criticized the growing hostility against Venezuelans, pointing out that many contribute significantly to U.S. society and have no criminal ties.

The controversy is heightening political divisions within the Venezuelan community, with many urging U.S. lawmakers to stand up for their rights and prevent deportations of those fleeing political persecution.
