By Zoila Palma: The Trump administration has revoked the visas of at least 6 foreign nationals for public comments celebrating the murder of right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk.
The State Department, in a post on X, said, “The United States has no obligation to host foreigners who wish death on Americans,” and shared screenshots of social media posts it cited as examples.
The six individuals affected are from Argentina, South Africa, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, and Paraguay, though the department did not disclose their names or visa types, BBC reports.
Kirk, a prominent conservative and ally of former President Trump, was fatally shot on September 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University during an event hosted by Turning Point USA.
His death prompted widespread attention, and President Trump posthumously awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, describing him as a “martyr” and blaming “far-left radicals” for the killing.
Tyler Robinson, 22, has been arrested and charged with aggravated murder in connection with the shooting.
The visa cancellations reflect a broader effort by the Trump administration to monitor social media activity and target individuals deemed hostile to American citizens.
The State Department indicated further visa revocations could follow and emphasized that this action is part of ongoing measures, including expanded vetting for student visas, to ensure foreign nationals do not promote or celebrate violence against Americans.
