International News: Top security officials investigating murder of beauty influencer in Mexico

By Zoila Palma: Mexico’s security cabinet is investigating the killing of 23-year-old beauty influencer Valeria Marquez, President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed Thursday.

Marquez was shot while livestreaming on TikTok at the salon where she worked in Zapopan, Jalisco, Reuters report.

Authorities are treating the case as a possible femicide.

“An investigation is underway to first find those responsible and the motive behind this situation,” Sheinbaum said, expressing condolences to Marquez’s family.

No suspects have been named, but the president confirmed that top security and justice officials are coordinating efforts in the case.

The incident has sparked outrage in a country grappling with widespread violence against women.
