By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: U.S. President- elect Donald Trump has been named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year for a second time, following his historic 2024 election victory.
The Republican president-elect was honored for orchestrating a major political comeback and reshaping the U.S. presidency, BBCreports.
Time Editor-in-Chief Sam Jacobs credited Trump with “driving a once-in-a-generation political realignment.”
Trump marked the occasion by ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange, joined by family members and supporters chanting “U-S-A.”
In a Time interview, he discussed plans for his second term, including reviewing the convictions of Capitol rioters and pledging a robust economy with substantial tax cuts.
Previous winners of the prestigious award include Greta Thunberg, Barack Obama, and Volodymyr Zelensky.
Trump’s 2024 win is historic, making him the oldest U.S. president.
