International News: Thousands of flights cancelled as Iran war triggers worst travel chaos since COVID

22

By Zoila Palma:  Thousands more flights were cancelled today as turmoil in global air travel intensified following the US-Israel war on Iran, leaving hundreds of thousands of passengers stranded.

Gulf airports and airlines suspended all operations until at least 10:00 GMT on Tuesday, while airline and travel shares fell sharply after days of disruption, Yahoo reports.

U.S. President Donald Trump indicated that US military action could last another four weeks, deepening uncertainty across the aviation sector.

Major Middle Eastern hubs, including Dubai – the world’s busiest international airport – remained closed for a third consecutive day in what analysts describe as the most acute aviation shock since the Covid pandemic.

Flights across the Middle East have been widely cancelled as international carriers continue suspending services.

By 10:00 a.m., aviation analysts Cirium reported at least 1,555 flights to the region had been cancelled, though warned the number was likely artificially low due to limited data from Iran and the United Arab Emirates.
