By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: El Salvador has experienced a phenomenal transformation with thousands of tourists visiting the country to tour the 24,000 square meter National Library, Historic Center, the National Palace, the National Theater and the Cathedral among others.
In recent decades, the history of the Central American nation had been marked by gang violence, with the country suffering from high crime rates.
However, President Nayib Bukele’s crackdown on gangs has proved greatly beneficial to the nation as it now hosts prestigious international events including the Miss Universe pageant and the upcoming pre- season match with Inter Miami vs El Salvador.
During the Miss Universe event, President Bukele remarked, “El Salvador has changed forever and we have demonstrated it once again… thank you for being part of the rebirth of my nation, but this is only the beginning… welcome to the rebirth of El Salvador, a place where you can fight for your dreams.”
While many have criticized President Bukele’s administration’s measures, polls show that majority of Salvadorans support the measure.
Some Salvadorans commented to Breaking Belize News that they are now living in freedom and peace after years of being tormented and living in fear of violent gangs.
The transformation has prompted the visit of thousands of tourists from around the world including Belize to visit El Salvador’s historic sites, volcano and national parks.
This is the Re-birth of El Salvador!
