By Zoila Palma:  U.S. President Donald Trump’s revived trade war has triggered steep new tariffs on Asian imports, including a 30% hike on goods from Vietnam and penalties targeting low-cost retailers Temu and Shein.

The moves temporarily disrupted Temu’s U.S. operations and removed tax exemptions on low-volume international shipments, CNBC reports.

While both companies have scaled back direct shipping from China, experts say the impact may be short-lived.

With U.S. warehouses and flexible supply chains, Temu and Shein may regain their footing — especially as price-sensitive consumers seek cheaper alternatives during economic uncertainty.

Both companies are adapting by shifting strategies, with Temu already planning to resume direct-to-consumer shipping by late July.

Their future in the U.S. may depend on what happens after the current tariff pause ends in August.
