International News: Sinaloa Cartel leaders charged with Narco-Terrorism after fentanyl seizure

By Zoila Palma: Two senior figures in the Sinaloa Cartel, Pedro Inzunza Noriega and his son Pedro Inzunza Coronel, have been charged with narco-terrorism, drug trafficking, and money laundering, U.S. federal officials announced Tuesday.

The charges follow the seizure of over 1.65 tons of fentanyl in Mexico last December, Fox reports.

The pair are accused of leading one of the world’s largest fentanyl production networks and trafficking massive quantities into the U.S.

They were charged alongside 5 other members of the Beltrán Leyva Organization (BLO), a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.

The indictment marks the first by the Department of Justice’s new Narco-Terrorism Unit. All suspects remain at large.

U.S. Attorney Adam Gordon warned cartel leaders: “You are no longer the hunters. You are the hunted.”
