By Aaron Humes: A vibrant young life was cut short early Saturday morning when Lance Corporal Tevon Wade, a 19-year-old Marine from Rosamond, was fatally shot during a Halloween party at a vacant business building. The heartbreaking incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. Los Angeles time in the 100 block of West Avenue I, near Division Street, in Lancaster, California.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of gunfire and found Wade suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. Investigators are piecing together the events leading up to the shooting, which appears to have stemmed from a fight that erupted during the festivities. Wade was shot by an unknown assailant who subsequently fled the scene. Details on the suspect remain scarce, and officials are urging anyone with information to contact the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500 or to reach out anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Wade’s identity and ruled the manner of death as homicide. In memory of Lance Corporal Wade, a GoFundMe campaign titled “Help LCpl Wade’s Family Through This Loss” was launched by Justin Calderon, who identified himself as Wade’s senior Marine.
