By Zoila Palma:  At his inaugural Mass in St. Peter’s Square, Pope Leo XIV, the first American pontiff, condemned the exploitation of the poor and urged unity within the Catholic Church, CNN reports.

Before tens of thousands, including world leaders and royalty, the new pope emphasized humility, denounced economic injustice, and warned against power struggles within the Church.

“There is no room for religious propaganda,” he said, calling instead for solidarity and peace.

The ceremony, attended by delegates from over 150 nations, marked the formal beginning of Leo’s papacy.

He received traditional symbols of office, including the pallium and the fisherman’s ring, and offered prayers for Ukraine and Gaza.
