By Zoila Palma: Today, Pope Leo XIV urged Russia and Ukraine to sit down for negotiations aimed at ending their four-year war, calling for dialogue and solutions that respect human life.
His comments came hours after he called on European leaders to be willing to make concessions in the interest of peace.
Speaking to reporters aboard his flight to Rome following a four-day visit to France, Pope Leo also expressed concern over growing discussions about nuclear weapons and increasingly destructive wars.
He said the Catholic Church has a responsibility to promote peace, human dignity and respect for life.
The pope called on leaders in Russia, Ukraine and other countries to engage in dialogue and seek ways to resolve disputes without continuing the conflict.
