By Zoila Palma: Tensions flared at the Miss Universe 2025 competition on Tuesday after several contestants reportedly walked out of an official event in Bangkok, Thailand, following a confrontation between Thai executive Nawat Itsaragrisil and Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch.
According to The Express Tribune, the incident took place ahead of a scheduled sashing ceremony at the delegates’ hotel and was streamed live on the Miss Universe Thailand Facebook page.
During the livestream, Nawat—who serves as the Miss Universe Vice President for Asia and Oceania—was seen asking Miss Mexico to stand and questioning her absence from a sponsor shoot while agreeing to be filmed by Telemundo.
Bosch appeared visibly uncomfortable before leaving the room, with several contestants following in solidarity. The walkout has since sparked widespread discussion among pageant fans and raised concerns about the internal atmosphere of this year’s competition.
Nawat, who also leads the local organizing committee for Miss Universe 2025 and is the founder of Miss Grand International, has recently become a key figure within the Miss Universe Organisation (MUO) after his company acquired shares from former CEO Anne Jakrajutatip’s firm.
As of now, neither Nawat nor the Miss Universe Organisation has issued an official statement, with the coronation night still set for November 21 in Bangkok.
