By Zoila Palma: Mexico’s security chief confirmed Tuesday that 17 relatives of Sinaloa cartel figure Ovidio Guzmán López crossed into the U.S. last week under a deal linked to negotiations with the Trump administration.
Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch said the move was part of a likely cooperation agreement between Guzmán López—extradited to the U.S. in 2023—and U.S. authorities. Video showed the family entering through Tijuana, met by U.S. agents.
None of the family members are wanted in Mexico, Border Report cited.
García Harfuch criticized the lack of information sharing from the U.S. side.
The news comes as U.S. prosecutors unveiled narcoterrorism charges against several top Sinaloa leaders, signaling a tougher stance on cartel operations.
