International News: Mexican President unveils “hymn” to Mexican migrants living in U.S.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Mexico’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum, unveiled a bilingual “Migrant Hymn” on Wednesday, celebrating Mexican migrants in the U.S. as “heroes” who sent $63 billion home last year.

The song, blending English and Spanish, highlights their loyalty, saying “we change our location, not our flag.” However, abuses against migrants from other countries continue in Mexico, AP reports.

As Sheinbaum praised Mexican migrants, a shelter in Reynosa, a border city, announced it could no longer accept newcomers due to rampant kidnappings by gangs.

Rev. Héctor Silva, who runs the shelter, stated that police now escort migrants to asylum appointments for safety.

Meanwhile, a new migrant caravan left Tapachula, hoping to reach the U.S. border despite repeated crackdowns by Mexican authorities.

Human rights groups, like Doctors Without Borders, report that many migrants remain trapped in Mexico, facing violence and uncertainty.
