By Zoila Palma: Argentine soccer superstar Lionel Messi is set to wear the national team jersey for one final time when Argentina faces Benin on October 6, 2026, marking the expected end of his international career.
Messi, 39, recently shared images of a special Adidas Argentina jersey ahead of the farewell match. “Last game… A shirt for life,” Messi wrote on Instagram, highlighting the significance of the occasion after nearly two decades representing Argentina.
The special jersey maintains Argentina’s iconic sky-blue and white stripes but features several details dedicated to Messi. His name and legendary No. 10 appear in gold on the back, with the Sun of May positioned above his name, while a distinctive pattern and gold number add to the commemorative design.
Messi has recorded 125 goals in 207 appearances for Argentina and has won the FIFA World Cup with the national team.
