By Zoila Palma: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the nation on Wednesday evening, marking the sixth day of Operation Rising Lion, Israel’s sweeping military campaign targeting both Iran and Hamas, calling it a fight to eliminate two “existential threats”—nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities.
“We control the skies over Tehran,” Netanyahu declared in a televised statement.
“We are striking the ayatollahs’ regime with great force. We are attacking nuclear installations, missiles, command centers, and the symbols of the regime.”
The Israeli prime minister said the ongoing operations are being closely watched—and praised—by global leaders.
“I speak with world leaders and they are very impressed by our determination and the achievements of our forces,” he said. “They are also greatly impressed by you, citizens of Israel, by your strong spirit and by your steadfastness.”
While touting military progress, Netanyahu acknowledged the heavy toll on Israeli forces. “We are sustaining many losses, painful losses,” he said, referring to the growing list of casualties. “But we see that the home front is strong. The people are strong, and the State of Israel is stronger than ever.”
He confirmed that Israeli forces continue battling in the Gaza Strip, reaffirming his government’s dual objectives: defeating Hamas and returning all hostages, both living and deceased. “We will not relent,” Netanyahu stated.
The Israeli Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump for his continued support. “I thank President Trump, a great friend of the State of Israel… including for the support of the U.S. in defending our skies,” Netanyahu said, describing their latest conversation as “very warm.”
Netanyahu concluded with a message of unity and resolve: “Citizens of Israel, together we will fight and, with God’s help, together we will win.”
