International News: Israel apologizes for strike that claimed lives of 3 Lebanese soldiers

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Israel’s military has issued an apology following a strike that killed three Lebanese soldiers in southern Lebanon, stating that it mistakenly targeted a truck believed to be associated with Hezbollah.

The military emphasized it is not fighting the Lebanese army, the Associated Press reports.

Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes targeted multiple branches of a Hezbollah-run bank, which Israel claims funds militant activities, although many Lebanese civilians use it for savings. No casualties were reported from these strikes.

Last week, Hezbollah declared it is entering a new phase of conflict against Israeli forces, coinciding with the fallout from the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar in Gaza.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to eliminate Hamas and rescue hostages taken during the surprise attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

Since October 7, 2023, the conflict has resulted in over 42,000 Palestinian deaths and significant displacement in Gaza.
