By Zoila Palma: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei rejected U.S. calls for surrender on Wednesday and warned that any American military intervention would bring “irreparable damage.”
According to AP, Khamenei’s televised remarks came amid continued Israeli airstrikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites, and as the U.S. boosts its military presence in the region.
The speech followed a social media post by U.S. President Donald Trump demanding Iran’s “unconditional surrender.”
Meanwhile, Israel reported strikes on Iranian centrifuge and missile facilities near Tehran and claimed the threat of Iranian missile attacks is waning.
Iran, for its part, vowed to continue enriching uranium for peaceful purposes and warned of “all-out war” if the U.S. becomes directly involved.
At least 585 people in Iran, including 239 civilians, have reportedly been killed.
Iran has launched over 400 missiles in retaliation, killing 24 in Israel.
Despite ongoing tension, Israel began easing restrictions on daily life and reopened its airspace, allowing limited flights to resume.
