International News: Humanitarian aid delivered to Cuba as deepening crisis continues

By Zoila Palma:  An international convoy of activists has delivered humanitarian aid to Cuba as the island continues to face a deepening economic crisis exacerbated by U.S. sanctions, Reuters report.

The shipment arrived Tuesday in Havana Harbor aboard a small vessel that departed from Progreso, Mexico, carrying 14 tons of food, medicine, solar panels and bicycles.

The delivery forms part of a broader flotilla organized by the Nuestra America Convoy, with two additional ships expected to arrive later.

The latest shipment supplements an additional six tons of aid flown into Cuba over the past week, with supplies distributed to hospitals and featured on state television.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel also met with members of the convoy at the presidential palace, including international figures such as former British Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

The convoy includes 300 organizations from more than 30 countries and is intended as an initial step in broader support efforts.
