Speaking in Arizona and Nevada, Harris described Trump’s remarks—claiming he would “protect women whether they like it or not”—as offensive and indicative of a troubling attitude toward women’s autonomy.
Harris’s comments come as both campaigns target women voters amid heightened concern over abortion rights, especially following the Supreme Court’s reversal of federal abortion protections, the AP reports.
Trump, who appointed the justices responsible for this change, has fluctuated in his abortion stance, at times promising to veto a national ban while also advocating for state regulations.
The battle for women’s votes is heating up, with early voting data showing 1.2 million more women than men have cast ballots in key states.
Harris’s campaign has capitalized on Trump’s statements, featuring ads that highlight the consequences of restrictive abortion laws.
Meanwhile, Trump and his supporters have pushed back, arguing against the portrayal of his campaign.
As both candidates ramp up their efforts, Harris is focusing on rallies in crucial battlegrounds, while Trump is diverting to states where Republicans have historically struggled.
