By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Last week, the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued multiple recalls including notices for more than 295,000 Ford heavy-duty pickup trucks for a fuel pump issue.
In addition, more than 20,000 Ford SUVs were recalled for a battery defect that could cause fires or loss of power.
The 2020-2024 Ford Escape and 2021-2024 Lincoln Corsair hybrid SUVs are recalled due to a manufacturing defect in the high-voltage battery cells. This defect could cause an internal short circuit and battery failure, increasing the risk of fire or loss of drive power, which could lead to a crash, USA Today reports.
GEM is also recalling 243 electric vehicles (2024-2025 e2, e4, e6, eLXD) for a ball joint issue that could affect steering.
Tesla is recalling 294 Model S and X vehicles (2024-2025) for faulty airbags that could tear during deployment.
Altec Industries is also recalling 82 Ford E350 van chassis (2017-2024) for a front axle defect that may cause instability under heavy loads.
