By Zoila Palma:  At least 68 people have been confirmed dead in the wake of catastrophic flash floods that swept through parts of Texas late Thursday and early Friday — including 28 children in Kerr County alone, according to local authorities.

Rescue operations remain underway, with at least 41 people still missing statewide, BBC reports.

A major focus is Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp for girls along the Guadalupe River, where 10 girls and one camp counselor remain unaccounted for.

Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha said search efforts are ongoing.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott confirmed another 10 deaths outside Kerr County and warned that more storms could hit central Texas within the next two days.

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed sympathy for those affected and said he hopes to visit Texas “probably on Friday.”

Survivors and families continue to wait anxiously as emergency crews and volunteers comb through debris.
