International News: Five charred bodies found in Tamaulipas believed to be those of missing Grupo Fugitivo members

By Zoila Palma: Authorities in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, have discovered five charred bodies, sparking fears they may be the missing members of regional music group Grupo Fugitivo. The musicians—Francisco Javier Vázquez, Nemesio Antonio Durán, Livan Solís, Víctor Manuel Garza, and José Francisco Morales—were last seen after a May 25 performance.

According to Univision, the bodies were found today at a remote ranch in the municipality.

The remains, in an advanced state of charring, were taken to the Forensic Medical Service for DNA testing to confirm their identities.

While the Tamaulipas State Attorney General’s Office has not yet officially confirmed the identities, the State Security Spokesperson’s Office noted that “based on preliminary characteristics, [the bodies] could correspond to the missing individuals.”

Family and friends of the musicians gathered at the Co-Cathedral of Reynosa to hold a vigil and pray for their safe return. Authorities are investigating the case, which some believe may have involved a fake booking used as a trap to abduct the group.
