By Zoila Palma: FIFA has condemned the racist abuse directed at popular streamer IShowSpeed during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 match between Argentina and Cape Verde at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
The online personality, who was livestreaming the July 3 match while wearing a Cape Verde jersey, was subjected to racial slurs and other offensive remarks from a fan in the stands.
In a statement issued today, FIFA said it had immediately launched an investigation after learning of the incident.
“FIFA strongly condemns racism, hate and discrimination in all forms. These actions have no place in football, at the FIFA World Cup, or anywhere in society,” the organization said. FIFA added that the tournament is “a celebration of unity, diversity and respect” and that anyone who undermines those values “is not welcome in our game.”
IShowSpeed, who has more than 56 million YouTube subscribers and over 4.1 million followers on X, ended his livestream following Argentina’s 3-2 extra-time victory over Cape Verde.
