By Zoila Palma:  El Salvador’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the transformation that the country has experienced continues to boost the country’s image and influence globally.

“This is no small feat; government policies and actions have made our nation the safest place in the hemisphere, resulting in significant opportunities for economic growth, as well as for development and social well-being.

These efforts have not gone unnoticed internationally, where El Salvador’s leadership and influence are recognized and taken into account,” the Ministry noted.

The 2026 Global Soft Power Index, a study conducted by the British firm Brand Finance to measure the perception of countries based on an evaluation of their attractiveness in areas such as tourism, trade, culture, governance, and foreign relations, among others showed a historic surge for the Central America nation.

In last year’s results which climbed 32 places to reach 82nd position among the 193 United Nations member states included in the ranking.

“For 2026, the trend remains positive, and El Salvador has risen another 6 places to occupy 76th position in this ranking, which considers the opinions of more than 150,000 respondents in 100 destinations worldwide. This achievement is even more significant when viewed from a regional perspective, as our country ranks among the top 10 nations in Latin America.

The publication highlights that “the progress made in security, governance, economic development, and tourism growth has been decisive in shaping a new national narrative, leading to continued progress in the Index,” the Ministry added.

The Ministry says that thecurrent projection “has a direct influence on efforts to attract investment, expand the tourism industry, strengthen cooperation, and deepen strategic alliances.”

Salvadoran officials say that the study’s results not only represent an indicator of the success of national policies and strategies, but also consolidate external recognition of the structural transformations and the vision of a new country, which have led to this repositioning on the global stage.
