By Zoila Palma: A U.S. federal appeals court has ordered the Trump administration to return Jordin Alexander Melgar-Salmeron, a 31-year-old Salvadoran man deported in violation of a court order, ABC reports.
Melgar-Salmeron was removed to El Salvador on May 7, just minutes after the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals barred his deportation. The court called the removal “improper” and said it contradicted government assurances.
This marks the fourth known case of a migrant ordered returned after wrongful deportation under the Trump administration.
The government must now disclose Melgar-Salmeron’s whereabouts and outline steps to bring him back to the U.S.
