By Zoila Palma: Across the globe, Latinos in every country are hailing Bad Bunny’s historic cultural Super Bowl halftime performance.
Belizeans across the country and also in the diaspora proudly shared videos of the Belizean flag being proudly waved by Belizean-American Nyah Davis as part of the halftime show.
In just over 13 minutes of performance, the Puerto Rican superstar brought culture and music and a symbolic meaning of what is means to be American, what it means to be a part of the Americas region.
Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio brought out the iconic fields, street food representing his Barrio in Puerto Rico.
In addition, the grammy-award winner artist depicted electricity poles symbolizing the country’s struggle with power outages especially following Hurricane Maria.
Bad Bunny began with “God Bless America” and proceeded to list out some of the country’s in the America’s region.
In his hand, a football that read “Together we are America,” before launching into his nostalgic anthem “DtMF.”
And, while performing “NUEVAYoL” — a song considered to be a tribute to immigrants and Puerto Rico’s diaspora in New York — Bad Bunny gave a Grammy statuette to a young boy who seconds before was watching the moment the musician won the award on TV, alongside two adults.
