International News: Authorities in Ecuador detain 2 in murder investigation of Prosecutor tasked with investigating TV attack 

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Authorities in Ecuador have detained 2 people for the murder of the prosecutor tasked with investigating last week’s live-broadcast assault by gangsters on a TV studio.

According to the Associated French Press, the Prosecutor was shot and killed inside his car in Guayaquil on Wednesday.

Prosecutor Cesar Suarez was investigating the gang responsible for the attack on state-owned TC Television on January 9.

“We have apprehended 2 suspects involved in the murder of prosecutor Cesar Suarez… after investigative steps that allowed us to identify the alleged involvement in the criminal act,” Police Commander General Cesar Zapata said on social media.

He said “evidence” against them included a rifle, two pistols, a firearm charger and two cars.

Cartels have been waging a bloody campaign of kidnappings and attacks in response to a government crackdown on organized crime, prompting President Daniel Noboa to declare the country in a “state of war.”
