By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Saturday, gunmen attacked a bar in Queretaro, Mexico killing 10 people, AFP reports.
Surveillance footage showed the armed culprits arriving in a truck and shooting inside the venue as terrified customers fled or dived to the floor.
Police later found the vehicle used in the attack and detained 1 person.
Queretaro, the capital of Queretaro state, is considered one of the safer cities in Mexico, which has been plagued by years of drug cartel-related violence.
State Governor Mauricio Kuri has condemned the attack.
“We cannot allow this,” Kuri said.
“In Queretaro, we will continue to defend our quality of life,” he said, adding: “We will not allow ourselves to be contaminated by what’s happening in other parts of the republic.”
There has been a recent increase in violence in the state since several criminal groups operate there.
