By Zoila Palma: Mexican officials have confirmed that on January 25, 2026, the entourage that accompanies President Claudia Sheinbaum were attacked and robbed.
According to LatinUS, the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) opened an investigation into the robbery against public officials assigned to the Center for the Production of Informative and Special Programs (CEPROPIE) of Mexico’s Ministry of the Interior (Segob).
“The Federal Prosecutor’s Office in San Luis Potosí of the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) reports that on January 25 it opened an investigation file due to the theft of equipment from personnel of the Center for the Production of Informative and Special Programs (CEPROPIE) of the Ministry of the Interior,” the agency stated.
The team was reportedly approached by several armed individuals while traveling on a stretch of highway in San Luis Potosí, where they were robbed of recording equipment.
But, on January 27, 2026, members of Mexico’s army recovered the stolen equipment, which had been abandoned in a remote area of the municipality of Guadalcázar, San Luis Potosí.
CEPROPIE personnel are responsible for producing videos as well as broadcasts that are disseminated through various social media platforms, as well as for national and international television.
President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has not yet issued any statement regarding the case.
