The U.S. and Israel have launched “major combat operations” in Iran, aiming to take out Iran’s ballistic missile and nuclear programs. Israel has also targeted Iranian political and military leaders, according to U.S. officials.
The attacks have resulted in significant casualties, with the Iranian Red Crescent reporting over 200 people killed and 700 injured. Iran has retaliated by firing missiles at Israel and U.S. bases in the region, including the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan.
Trump has urged Iranians to “take over your government” when the strikes are over, stating “the hour of your freedom is at hand”.
However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has expressed willingness to talk if the US and Israel halt attacks, saying regime change is “mission impossible.”
The situation remains fluid, with the international community awaiting further developments. The UN Security Council has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
