By Zoila Palma:  Authorities in Mexico have discovered the bodies of 11 murder victims in Tecoanapa, a town in the violent southern state of Guerrero, officials confirmed Wednesday.

Local media reported the killings were linked to clashes between rival criminal groups.

Guerrero, plagued by cartel violence, remains one of Mexico’s deadliest states, with nearly 1,900 murders recorded in 2023, CBS reports.

The U.S. government advises against travel to the region due to crime. Previous incidents include mass killings, the beheading of a newly elected mayor, and a cartel truce brokered by local bishops.

Despite being home to tourist spots like Acapulco and Zihuatanejo, Guerrero continues to grapple with escalating violence.
