By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today is being observed as International Day of Sign Language.
The day is set aside to honor the vital role that sign language plays in connecting the deaf community to the world.
Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children, Rossana Briceno says that the day reminds us that communication knows no barriers when we embrace inclusivity and diversity.
“By learning and promoting sign language, we can foster greater understanding and respect for the deaf community.
Let us stand together in advocating for sign language rights and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to be heard,” the Special Envoy said.
Sign language is more than a tool; it’s a bridge to equality and empowerment.
