By Zoila Palma: In a move to boost agricultural productivity and resilience, the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) today handed over vital equipment to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise (MAFSE).
The donation, received by MAFSE CEO Servulo Baeza, is aimed at supporting small farmers across Belize. The equipment will assist in key areas such as irrigation, pest and disease prevention, and the transfer of agricultural technology.
The handover follows a series of workshops conducted by IICA that focused on best farming practices and the use of modern technology to improve crop yields and sustainability in the agricultural sector.
The Ministry has announced that the equipment will be distributed to small-scale farmers nationwide to enhance their operations and support food security efforts.
