Institute for Social and Cultural Research hosts 3rd workshop under Belize Food Heritage Project

By Zoila Palma:  The Institute for Social and Cultural Research (ISCR/NICH) hosts its third district-level workshop under the Belize Food Heritage Project at the Corozal House of Culture in Corozal Town.

The workshop was held from April 7 to 9, 2026.

The workshop brought together members of our Living Heritage Network across the Corozal District as we continue empowering communities to document, celebrate, and safeguard their diverse foods and foodways.

Participants were introduced to the UNESCO 2003 Convention, received an overview of the Belize Food Heritage Project, and explored key concepts for the safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

“We look forward to engaging more Belizeans in inventorying our foodways. We extend our gratitude to our participants, the Corozal House of Culture and to UNESCO international assistance and Belize Ministry of Culture,” ISCR noted.
