ICS Lecture: “Los viajes de Betances—colonialismo y diáspora…”

As part of its Spring 2025 cycle of Caribbean Conferences—Conferencias Caribeñas 36—the Institute of Caribbean Studies at the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras (UPR-RP) invites the academic community and the general public to the lecture “Los viajes de Betances: colonialismo y diáspora en el Caribe Finisecular” [Betances’s Travels: Colonialism and Diaspora in the Caribbean Fin-de-Siècle] by Jossianna Arroyo Martínez (University of Texas-Austin). The commentator will be Dr. Francisco Moscoso (Emeritus Professor, UPR-RP).

Description: This event, held during the week celebrating the birth of Ramón Emeterio Betances (1827-1898), places the past in the context of current concerns and questions. This event will take place today, Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 1:00pm (AST) in Room 238 of the Ramón Emeterio Betances Building (REB 238), School of Social Sciences, UPR-RP. 

This event will be streamed live via the Caribbean Studies Institute’s YouTube channel (Youtube del IEC).
