House meets Friday in the wake of redefining municipal elections for Budget reading

By Aaron Humes: After Wednesday’s nailbiter that turned out not to be much of a nailbiter, and ahead of a holiday weekend, the House of Representatives will meet tomorrow, Friday, for the second time in 2024.

No Orders of the Day have been posted on the National Assembly website as per normal before a meeting. Expected to be at the top of the agenda will be the annual presentation of the Budget, about which we will have more in a separate story. But other bills are expected to be tabled including changes to the justice system among others.

The Government will get a chance to brag and boast about the first referendum on their performance in office in a “normal” i.e. non-COVID era setting (there were still partial restrictions in place during the 2021 elections). The Opposition has so far presented a defiant tone and will see the Budget reading as a chance to reset their agenda and show the nation that they are ready for a return to the top dog status on the hill.
