By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A road traffic accident has claimed the life of 18-year-old Eutemito Pech following a collision involving a horse-drawn buggy and a pickup truck on the outskirts of Guinea Grass Village.
According to police, the fatal incident occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Friday night.
Police Staff Officer ASP Stacy Smith explained that preliminary investigations indicate Pech was traveling along the roadway toward Guinea Grass Village when he collided into the rear of a horse-drawn buggy that was positioned on the far right side of the road.
The impact reportedly caused the young rider to lose control and swerve into the path of oncoming traffic, where a second collision occurred involving a pickup truck.
“The collision resulted in the death of Mr. Pech,” ASP Smith confirmed.
Police have since served a Notice of Intended Prosecution on the pickup driver, identified as Mr. Garcia, and investigators have obtained a urine sample as part of standard procedures.
Officials say the investigation remains active as officers seek to determine the exact circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
