By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today is celebrated as International Day of Families.
This year’s theme, ‘Families & Climate Change: International Year of the Family + 30’, aims to raise awareness of how climate change impacts families and the role families can play in climate action (UN, 2024).
Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children Rossana Briceno encourages all Belizeans to join in honoring the heartbeat of our society, our families.
“As we come together to honor the heartbeat of society, let us also acknowledge the importance of families, especially in helping to pass values across generations that will drive sustainable habits and climate awareness.
By empowering families through education, encouraging changes in consumption habits, and fostering advocacy, we can help contribute to meaningful and effective climate action,” the Special Envoy said.
The Special Envoy urged to reaffirm our commitment to nurturing these precious bonds, fostering understanding, and supporting one another toward a more sustainable future.
Together, let’s build a world where every family is valued, protected, and empowered to thrive.
