By Aaron Humes: Early this morning, police responded to a report of a home invasion at the Marla House of Hope. The incident occurred at approximately 5:45 a.m., when officers arrived to find one of the two caretakers appearing visibly shaken by the ordeal.
Around 5:30 a.m., two men wearing black face masks entered the facility. One suspect was described as slim and dressed entirely in black, while the other was of heavier build and donned a reddish sweater. Both men appeared to be armed with handguns.
One of the intruders confronted the female caretaker in the kitchen, grabbed her, and demanded she remain quiet while inquiring about another caregiver present. She escorted the men to the caregiver’s quarters to locate the other staff member on duty.
The intruders demanded to see all the rooms where children were located. Throughout the encounter, they inquired about an individual named Dalia Dulcia, to which they responded that no one by that name was present. The suspects fled the scene.
A police investigation is currently underway.
