Home Affairs Minister commends police for massive drug & firearms bust

By Horace Palacio: Minister of Home Affairs Kareem Musa has praised a recent police operation that resulted in the seizure of what he describes as likely the largest cache of illegal firearms in the country’s recent history. The seizure also included significant quantities of cannabis and cocaine.

“I want to commend the police on their bust yesterday,” Musa stated. “I haven’t seen such a cache of high-powered firearms altogether at once.”

While the Minister commended the Special Patrol Unit (S.P.U.) officers involved, he indicated uncertainty regarding whether the Belize Coast Guard assisted in the operation. In response to a reporter’s inquiry, Musa stated that while he believes a captain from another department may have been involved, he was unsure if the captain belonged to the Coast Guard.
