History Made – Football Federation issues congratulations to first female head football coach after victory

By Aaron Humes: The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) has issued congratulations to Coach Ada Cordova for making history as the first-ever female head coach of a club in the Premier League of Belize (PLB).

It was a winning start too as her San Pedro Pirates secured a 4-1 victory against Wagiya FC.

“Taking on the challenge to lead a men’s team at the highest level of football in the country is no small feat, and Coach Cordova is showing just how far talent and determination can take you,” the Federation wrote on its social media page.

It continued, “A massive shoutout as well to the owner and management of San Pedro Pirates for creating this incredible opportunity and paving the way for women in football. You’re not just changing the game—you’re redefining it! This achievement is a giant leap for women in football, showing that passion, dedication, and talent know no gender. We can’t wait to see more milestones from Coach Ada and the San Pedro Pirates this season!”

The Pirates are former seasonal champions and look to reestablish themselves at the top of the league this term.
