The Opposition United Democratic Party, by way of striking fashion statement, posed the burning question on everyone’s mind to the House of Representatives in Belmopan on Friday: “Who thief Budna?”
Members of the Opposition, led by leader Tracy Taegar-Panton, donned bright red T-shirts beneath their blazers with the questioned emblazoned: “Who thief Budna?” The statement comes more than a month after the abduction of Jospeh Budna; allegations of police high command involvement; the suspension of the Commissioner of Police; a police investigation of its own ranks; the ComPol’s reinstatement and no charges brought against anyone.
The fiasco has sparked much public speculation; fierce debate online, a slew of memes, videos, songs and jokes but nothing tangible in regard to the actual investigation. The Government has distanced itself from Budna’s allegations but a leaked video aired by Channel 7 News confirmed several details in his claims.
