By Breaking Belize News Staff: A man identified as Herbert Belloso was shot and killed in Ladyville, Belize District, on Saturday, October 31, as a deadly wave of gun violence continues across the country.
The shooting reportedly occurred in the Mirage Road area of Ladyville, near the Milpa community.
A police source has confirmed to Breaking Belize News that Belloso died after being shot with a shotgun, sustaining a devastating injury to the head.
Photographs circulating in the aftermath of the incident show a man believed to be Belloso with severe injuries consistent with the account provided by the source.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including what led to the attack and who may have been responsible, remain unclear.
Belloso’s murder comes just one day after four men were gunned down along the Coastal Plain Highway on Friday morning. The victims included a 16-year-old boy.
Those killings followed Thursday morning’s murder of 19-year-old Dodrick Madrill on Freedom Street in Belize City, along with two other shootings in the city that left two men injured.
With Belloso’s death, at least six people have been murdered in shooting incidents since Thursday, October 29, while three others have been injured in separate attacks since Wednesday.
There is no confirmed indication that the Ladyville shooting is connected to the recent violence elsewhere in the country.
