By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Henry ‘Henno’ Moreira emerged victorious in the highly competitive Category A of the Weekend Warriors New Year’s Cycling Classic, held on Sunday, January 19. Moreira beat the competition clocking two hours, 19 minutes, and 56 seconds (2:19:56).
The race, sponsored by SHELL Ultra Helix lubricants, saw cyclists battling it out for the top prize of $1,000.00. Starting at 9:0 am, the race went from Carmelita on the Philip Goldson Highway in Orange Walk, turned onto the Airport Road, John Smith Road, George Price Highway, and finished at Old Belize.
The station prizes for Category A were fiercely contested. Greg Lovell took the prize at Mile 35, Darien Anderson won at the Smart Tower and Gardenia Community. Adrian Williams secured the Precision Auto prize, Tyrin Tasher claimed the Eruption prize, and Kent ‘Bob’ Gabourel won the prize at 8 Miles.
