By Aaron Humes: No less than five accidents on the roads were reported over the weekend, with two resulting in fatal injuries.
On Friday night, just after 9 p.m., police were called to Miles 63 and 64 on the George Price Highway, finding four persons on the road lying among the wreckage of two motorcycles.
Police investigation established that 28-year-old Keith Guzman of Santa Elena Town, accompanied by Antonio Castillo, was attempting to overtake a vehicle when he collided with the other motorcycle, going the other way, driven by Peter Vasquez, who was accompanied by one female passenger. Guzman died of his injuries in hospital, while the others remain hospitalized in stable condition.
Staff Officer Assistant Superintendent Stacy Smith told reporters today that tests are pending for potential alcoholic consumption by Guzman, while it appears at least some of those involved were wearing helmets as they were found at the scene; however, it appears they were not securely fastened. Police investigations continue.
