By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belize could be in for several wet days as moist and unstable weather brings the potential for heavy rainfall, showers and thunderstorms across the country.
The National Meteorological Service has issued an Excessive Rainfall Watch, warning that coastal and southern areas could receive between two and four inches of rainfall per day during the next few days.
Residents are being advised to remain vigilant and monitor weather conditions in their respective areas.
For today, cloudy skies with periods of sunshine are expected, along with showers and thunderstorms mainly over the coast and northern districts during the morning.
Southern Belize could also experience some light rain.
Conditions should improve somewhat during the afternoon, but inland communities can still expect a few showers and thunderstorms.
Tonight, showers and thunderstorms are forecast to initially affect the south before developing along coastal areas later.
Thursday is expected to bring another round of unsettled weather, with some showers and thunderstorms developing over most areas.
Marine conditions also require caution. Small craft operators are being advised to exercise caution because heavy showers and thunderstorms could produce gusty winds and locally rough seas.
Despite the unsettled weather, forecasters say tropical cyclone formation is not expected over the region during the next 48 hours.
